Chetolah Shores Civic Association Board Meeting
March 18, 2014 – 7:00 p.m.
Present: Eric Siegel, Patty Costigan, Kathy Bartus, Cheryl Cathcart,
Tina Green, Erik Kokeny
The meeting was called to order by President Eric Siegel at 7:20 p.m.
President Eric Siegel reported that he has been in contact with the
Youngbluth attorney. Eric felt we
should wait until we get through the dues campaign before we review the
by-laws but that we acted in
good faith in the change to mandatory dues.
Treasurer Patty Costigan reported out of 466 dues letters, we have
received 70 dues, and a total of 130
dues payments. We will send out dues notices for 2014 dues in May and
send our follow-up collection
letters in August. Patty distributed an updated spreadsheet of the
callback status on calls received.
Patty reported a Treasury balance of $7,577.92.
Patty also distributed excellent graphs of the CSCA Revenue and Expenses
for discussion purposes, as
well as graphs of the CSCA Homeowner Dues Collection Campaign for fiscal
The Secretary’s Report was approved with the change that “the audit take
place before the 2015 annual
meeting”. Motion to accept the corrected minutes by Eric S., seconded by
Patty. Motion carried. Hazel
Lewis will post to website.
Patty stated that as Treasurer, she was not comfortable paying Pete
McClain/Helping Hands based on an
electronic statement. She believes we should have a Tax ID# and send
out a W-9. In a phone
conference with Lloyd Lewis, he clarified that the docks will be
installed as soon as weather permits.
The vendor needs to make 8 dock sections for a $2,000 deposit, and the
balance due of $3,000 upon
Again the subject rose of changing the audit date to August to coincide
with the fiscal year.
Tina Green reported on distributing flyers asking for donations for the
Elizabeth Lake Fireworks Display.
She made a motion that Chetolah Shores Civic Association make a $750.00
donation. Seconded by
Cheryl Cathcart. Motion carried. The next Fireworks meeting, chaired by
John Green, will be held
Sunday, March 23 at Village Place.
Erik Kokeny reported on tree removals near the Cass Lake boat dock, near
the docks and a cluster of
dead trees for safety purposes. Lamphere’s removed same for the amount
Erik Kokeny also reported he would be responsible for looking into
Boater Safety Classes. Mark
Webberly is still investigating possibility of a Sheriff for Elizabeth
Eric Siegel will look into low cost signage to advertise CSCA classes,
meetings, events, etc.
Eric S. will also investigate a Marketing person to update the CSCA
Discussion of possible Lot 19 kayak/canoe rack installation and rental
The current CSCA laptop that Patty uses is old and inefficient. Eric S.
will investigate purchase or a new
There being no further business to come before the meeting, it was
adjourned at 9:15 p.m.
The next CSCA Board meeting will be held at Erik Kokeney’s, 5119
Cohoctah, on Monday, April 28 at 7:00
The annual CSCA membership meeting will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2014
at 6:30 p.m. at Havilland
Elementary Media Center.
